Barcelona Declaration (DORI)
About
The signatories of the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information commit to leading the transformation of how research information is used and produced. The goal is to make openness about the conduct and communication of research the new norm.
User Groups
Researchers, Research Performing Organisations, Research Funding Organisations, Scholarly Infrastructures.
Mutual Benefits
Both Scilake and DORI aim to have a positive impact on the democratisation of scholarly content, as well as supporting knowledge discovery and research assessment. Scilake components will benefit from the actions promoted by the DORI that focus on the sustainability of the infrastructures that enable open research information. The tools and services developed within SciLake contribute to organizing scientific knowledge, enriching open research information and allowing new forms of research assessment based on it.
Expected Outcomes and Goals
The partnership between SciLake and DORI focuses on developing the foundational elements, both cultural and analytical, necessary for establishing a novel framework for research assessment. This framework aims to be more contextualised, evidence-based, and grounded in open research information principles to enable richer, more nuanced evaluation of research impact and quality.
Joint Activities
Members of the SciLake project are also actively involved in the working groups of DORI, which regularly meet and carry on the implementation of the actions established to fulfill the DORI commitments. Moreover, representatives from the two initiatives gathered together in a few events, such as the Paris Conference (in 2024) and the Bologna Meeting on Open Research Information (in 2025). The creation of joint task forces is ongoing.
