Founded in 1988 as a non-profit public-private partnership, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) is one of the largest non-profit contract research institutes in the field of innovative software technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, with a focus on human-centric AI – Intelligent solutions for the knowledge society. DFKI ranks among the important Centres of Excellence worldwide and is the leading AI research center in Germany. Research and development projects are conducted in more than 20 research departments, 10 competence centers and 7 living labs. Funding is received through grants from public funding agencies as well as from industrial partners. The DFKI department to join the SciLake consortium is the Speech and Language Technology Lab (SLT) in Berlin. Its mission is to advance the use of human languages by machines and to create and improve IT-solutions that benefit from language use.

Role in the project

DFKI actively participates in the project activities which are related to text mining and information extraction from raw scientific content.
