OSTrails
About
OSTrails is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation action project which aims to advance processes and instruments for Planning, Tracking, and Assessing scientific knowledge production beyond state-of-the art, working with various national and thematic contexts, improving existing infrastructure, and connecting key components.
The main aim of the project is to streamline FAIRness, interconnectivity and machine actionability across Planning, Tracking and Assessing research phases.

Mutual Benefits
The collaboration between SciLake and OSTrails creates mutual value by combining complementary strengths in advancing FAIR data practices and Scientific Knowledge Graph development. SciLake enhances its SKG standards through access to OSTrails' expertise in making knowledge graphs more interoperable and machine actionable, aligned with RDA SKG-Interoperability and EOSC Interoperability Framework. Additionally, SciLake connects with OSTrails' extensive network of 38 partners, including 22 research performing organizations and 5 ESFRI Clusters. In return, OSTrails benefits from SciLake's robust tools and methodologies for creating domain-specific SKGs, which can be implemented across its diverse pilot programs. This partnership enables both projects to strengthen their ecosystems through technology sharing and cross-implementation of tools and services, ultimately establishing a more comprehensive approach to FAIR data practices throughout the research lifecycle.

Expected Outcomes and Goals
Both projects align on improving interoperability standards for Scientific Knowledge Graphs, with OSTrails focusing on the assessment and planning stages while SciLake emphasizes implementation in specific scientific domains.

Joint Activities
SciLake and OSTrails work together through several joint activities and regular communication. A notable example is the workshop titled "EOSC collaborative frontiers to achieve interoperability and enhance scholarly data," held at the EOSC Symposium 2024 on October 22, 2024, which brought together key stakeholders from both initiatives to discuss shared goals and challenges: https://scilake.eu/scilake-at-eosc-symposium-2024
Members of the SciLake project are also actively involved in OSTrails activities, maintaining close coordination to follow the development of both initiatives, including early access to project deliverables.
